Many people hate winter because of the long dark nights and the lack of sunlight.

People with S.A.D (Seasonal Affective Disorder) can become extremely depressed over the winter period and some even migrate to warmer places to avoid the snow and ice.

Winter can also cause travel disruption - such as flight cancellations (due to snow, ice, or poor visibility caused by freezing fog), road closures, floods due to the melting snow and many people are unable to leave their homes (and get trapped in) if they live in a rural area.

Homeless people can also die during the cold winter weather due to their constant exposure to the wind chill and they also don't have a shelter.
