Why do people watch horror movies late at night?

Well, there isn't really a definite answer. My best guess is that being chased down a street at night would be alot scarier than during a bright, sunny day. Also, it sets the scene alot more doesn't it? The moon casting dark shadows everywhere, people could be hiding in that shadow just a couple of metres away. Let's all admit it, night time is scary. That's just it. I know this isn't a very formal answer but that is just what I think. :)
