Hindu believe that the river ganges are special because they are like no other river in the world. It contains water that science cannot explain the properties of. The water remains so clean that drinking this water causes no illness. so many people bathe in the ganges and wash in the ganges and yet it remain clean. the water is holy water and you have to experience the holliness yourself not by reading what others interpret the ganges as. It to will be special to you.
It has been found that water of river ganges has more than usual amount of oxygen in it which means it is rich in oxygen content. Due to this it is not possible for any kind of micro organisms to survive in it. Scientific experiments done with ganges water has found dead bacteria in it.
Personally, I believe that it is because of ganges that earliest human civilization flourished since they were protected from a lot of diseases by ganges river water.
