Hence there is a two hours difference in the timings of the western most extreme extremity and the easternmost extremity if there is no standard meridian in India we have to advance our watch by 4 minutes on each longitude, if we travel from west to east . In order to avoid the problem we have chosen 82 degree 30 E as standard meridian and its local time is taken a standard throughout the country.

If their will different times at different places, then it would be a lot confusing. Hence to remove this confusion, the Meridian 82'30 Degrees passing near Allahabad is taken as the standard meridian.
It's time is taken as the uniform time all over the country.
