Basically, to maximize the amount of airflow in as small of a space as provided. One single fan of sufficient diameter to get that air flow isn't going to fit in there.

Hi, If you count OFF, then the fans have 3 speeds: 1) OFF, 2) Low (half speed), and 3) High speed. If you would like more detail, I have included a link to how the cooling fans work in these vans. Good Luck, Greg
There is no sensors for the cooling fans. there is a relay switch/circuit breaker. It is under the hood in a black box on the passenger side. If after replacing that and fans still continue not to work replace cooling fan motor. First find out which one of the 2 does not work. replace fan motor that is non operational. you must pull the radiator out to do this job. It is not that hard to do just time consuming.
Air conditioning fan. Turn on the A/C and see which one comes on.
First you have to take out the (2) torque mounts, then take out the (2) cooling fans. Loose the transmition cooling lines then take out the cooling system hose(bottom & upper) and finally has 2 mounts in each side that holds the radiator after that pull the radiator.
Cooling Fans Fuses and Relays are in the Underhood Fuse Block #2. See page 6-67 of your "Owner's Manual for details...
3 cooling requirements #1proper coolant mix and amount #2 thermostat #3 electric radiator cooling fans... fans must kick on when engine is hot, if the fans kick on and you have proper coolant level and mix, then it may be a defective thermostat, it's underneath the 3 in diameter engine fitting where the upper radiator hose connects to the engine . If the fans don't kick on could be fans, power to fans , or temp relay telling fans to turn on. Any ex stream outside temps or adverse diving conditions?
Check the following............... 1. System is low on antifreeze. 2. System has an air pocket in the cooling system. 3. Cooling fans are not connected. 4. Radiator is bad......
Answer: Air condition systems use 2 cooling fans while the radiator usually uses one fan.
No the 2 fans will not come on when you start the engine. One of the fans will come on anytime the A/C is being used. The other fan will come on along with the A/C fan when the engine reaches a preset temperature to prevent it from overheating.
There are 2 and they are located on the intake manifold near the thermostat. The 1 with the single wire is for the gauge. The 2 wire is for the cooling fans and the computor. jd
Check the following items......... 1. Freon levels. 2. Electrical harnesses for the a/c system. 3. Cooling fans. 4. Pressure switches.....
