Oprah has also encouraged her viewers with weight issues to diet (her own struggles with her weight, and her refusal to give up, was very motivational); been a role model for many young women of color (she was the first successful black female talk show host); and given exposure to a number of artists, poets, authors, and even presidential candidates.
