Why does kagome like inuyasha?

Its because Inuyasha's a stubborn stupid dog to like any else other than kagome.

He likes that fact that she is confident and happy, it balances his depressive tendencies. He likes that she is kind and gentle, but also comes with a fiery temper that he greatly enjoys stoking. He learns from her, how to feel affection and show that affection for other people, etc., and he is incredibly grateful to her for that. His mother was the only person to love him for him, and so, when Kagome proves again and again that she loves all of him, it touches him. He also greatly appreciates that she never made him choose between her and Kikyo, that she truly only wanted him to be happy, no matter what it did to her. And of course it didn't hurt that he found her very sexy :)

Yes she starts liking him soon after they meet.

Kagome is attracted to Inuyasha for many reasons. The first, the one that first got her to take notice of him, was the fact that he didn't fall all over himself complimenting her. In her own time, Kagome was considered the most beautiful girl in school, and almost all the boys had a crush on her. When she met Inuyasha, he did everything he could to be mean to her, to belittle her, and that sparked her ire.

Eventually, she began taking notice of his strength. That was the second thing that drew her to him. It's a simple psychological issue: Kagome is an internally strong, independent girl. She would never be satisfied if she didn't have a man who was physically if not mentally stronger than her.

Really the biggest thing that captivated her, however, was his past. The fact that he was so mistreated and abused. That he literally had no friends or allies for fear of them hurting him. That he had to hide his true compassionate, sweet nature (albeit, not a very intelligent one :D ) behind a coarse, rude, mean exterior to prevent others from taking advantage of him.

Kagome's one of those people who feels like she has to help everyone. Even Inuyasha comments on it once, "You're too nice to people. That's your problem."

When she was presented with this tragedy that was Inuyasha, combined with his power and lack of interest in her, it was all just too much for her to resist :)
