As Earth turns slowly on its axis through-out the year, different parts of the world are experiencing different seasons because the sun it closer or farther away from the area making it either hotter (summer-spring) or cooler (winter-fall).

The Earth's orbit around the Sun is elliptical or oval shaped, however, the difference between the farthest point and the closest point is too small to make a difference. What really causes the seasons is Earth's axis. Basically, the Earth is tilted 23.45 degrees and although it isn't much, its makes a big difference. This little tilt makes one side of the Earth closer to the Sun than the other thus causing the seasons to change as the Earth rotates. Example, The Northern side of the Earth will be closer to the Sun during the months of June, July and August and it will be Summer while at the same time the Southern side will be farther away and it will be Winter.

What if the earths axis of rotation were tilted at a different angle. also what would the seasons be like if earths axis was a 0 degrees and b 45 degrees?

Earth's axis has a tilt of 23.5 degrees; this is what causes seasons. 0 degrees: practically no seasons (there would be minor changes due to a varying distance from the Sun). 45 degrees: seasons would be much more pronounced.

How does the tilting of earths axis effect the earth?

it creates the seasons.

Two reasons for seasons?

1. Tilt of earths axis 2. Earths axis remains parallel throughout its yearly orbit.

Why are the seasons reversed in the northern and southern hemisphere?

Because Earths axis is tilted.

How does UK get four different seasons?

The same way every other place in the world does. Because of the inclination of rotation about the earths axis and the earths orbit around the sun.

What does the earths tilted axis cause?

The tilting of the Earth on its axis exposes the planet to different levels of sunlight, this in turn causes temperature variations and results in what is known as seasons.

What would be the effect on earth if the planets axis were not tilted?
