Why had Winnie changed her mind about running away in Tuck Everlasting?

I don"t think she changed her mind- at least until the incident where Mae- who seems to be like Granny of the Beverly Hillibillies gets violent and kills the Man in the Yellow Suit by either hitting him over the head with a shotgun, or by using the gun for its more usual purpose- shooting him, he dies- and well, as I said, things are getting violent, up to then there was no violence ( and why should there be among immortals) but things got a little jealous- I think, have not seen the film the man in the yellow suit- why is he anonymous- was an F.B.I. agent, and the garment was actually a trench coat with a garrison overbelt. Tan could look yellow! Granny is a cop killer- yecch! talk about a plot twist- that"s a dime turn at warp velocity!
