Why is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows being split into two parts?

It has been split because there is just so much vital detail in the last book that if they did the same thing as they did with the previous movies and delete parts, half of the film wouldn't make any sense. In order to understand the film without reading the book, you would need all the details in every chapter. So in the end the film would be about 10 hours long. Its understandable that they're splitting it, and personally I cant wait. I just hope they don't expect us to buy two separate cinema tickets…

The final Harry Potter book will be split into two films because the crew of the final film think it would be too hard to fit the whole of Deathly Hallows into one film without making it too long or cutting to much out which wouldn't explain the full story.

This is also a way of making more money for Warner Brother Studios.

because harry potter the seventh is the longest book, so they should make it the longest movie. but if they were to do that, it would run almost five hours long. so they split it in half, just like breaking dawn. not just because of how long it would run, but also for suspense.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was split into two films because when writing the script Steve Kloves discovered that there wasn't much he could cut out of the film and still have it make sense. Just about everything in the book was necessary to understanding the plot so they decided to make two films so they could remain faithful to the book.

Many fans think that movies such as Order of the Phoenix should be two movies because they cut a lot out of that and that this is just a way to make more money as people buy one more cinema ticket and one more DVD than they would have.

However, after seeing the first part of the movie it seems like a good decision as the film is more faithful to the book than the last few movies have been.

There was serious fan backlash after the last few Harry Potter movies were releases because of modified or aborted plot lines that did not follow the novels as closely as most fans would have liked. The seventh book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows, will be adapted into a two part film to give the writers more screen time in order to stay as faithful to the book as possible. It also allows for more profit on the part of Warner Brothers, as now they have 8 blockbuster movies instead of 7.
