The most well known storyline of Sweeney Todd comes from Stephen Sondheim's popular musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, which was started in 1979. The story of Sweeney was made even more popular by a more recent film version of Sweeney in 2007, directed by Tim Burton, with Johnny Depp as title role.
