Ice-T's first credited acting role was in an episode of Fame (TV series) in 1983. He followed that apperance with a number of movie roles. He then appeared in three episodes of New York Undercover (TV series) in 1995 then appeared in 18 episodes of Players (TV series) in 1997-1998.

Ice-T made his first L&O appearance in the 1998, made for TV, Law and Order movie 'Exiled', in a small role playing Seymour "Kingston" Stockton. He became a permanent member of the SVU cast, as Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola in the 2000 "Wrong is Right" episode. We can assume that he was chosen for the role on SVU based on his experience, acting skills, his suitability, his availability, and his desire for steady work.
