Johnny was sometimes described as the glue that held the whole group together. Dallas really didnt have much to live for - no mother, a drunk for a father, sleeping on the streets since the age of 10, and constantly in and out of jail. Johnny was his one and only hope - Johnny was an inspiration and almost like a little brother to him.
When Johnny died, Dallas cracked, and couldn't handle it, it was really difficult because he realised he really had nothing left. He had known Johnny for a long time too, and Johnny was so pure and innocent, it reminded Dallas of everything he wasn't.

After Johnny died, Dally ran out of the hospital and robbed a store with an unloaded gun. the store clerk called the cops and they found Dally running away, and Dally pulled his unloaded gun at them, and they shot him dead. Johnny was the only thing Dally cared for.
