If your using a pokemon white version or pokemon black version, then you can't see them in the union room because the new pokemon can't be traded into an older game. It's also the same with soulsilver and and any older game, heartgold and any older game. I don't know about any GBA games, because I never got them to work. But you can do it with platinum and pearl or diamond. If your trying to transfer pokemon to black and white, go to ds download, (on pokemon pearl or diamond in) and use a differant system to transfor them from that lab. You have to chose the pokemon, and they will transfor, but you have to catch all of them before time runs out.

You don't, Mr. Backlot doesn't show you Manaphy but there's a book in his room that will show you a picture of Manaphy as well as add it as a "seen" Pokémon to your Sinnoh Dex.
