People liked Whitney Houston because she had a very impressive voice, and her songs included a number of big hits. She was also very generous, and before she became immersed in struggles with addiction, she was known for her willingness to help certain charities. She also was very helpful to people in her hometown of Newark NJ.

∙ 11y agoTruthfully, I am not sure that she was. Some of her songs were certainly inspirational, especially "The Greatest Love of All." Ironically, it contained the line "I believe that children are our future, teach them well..." But Whitney Houston's own daughter saw a mother who did not teach her well-- she loved her daughter, but abused drugs and alcohol and was not necessarily the best role model for the little girl to observe. Whitney Houston had so much talent, but in many ways, her rise and fall are a cautionary tale about how fame can sometimes lead to good things but just as often lead to tragedy.
