The newer PS3 models (like the slimline model) do not include backwards compatibility for ANY PS2 games, but they can still play original PS games.
i bought a playstation 3 my playstatsion 2 games won't play
If you have an old PS3 with 4 USB ports and a Flash card reader they will play some PS2titles depending on the model PS3
They work on all fat models. You have to download a package from the Ps3 store for free. They don't work on the 160 gb models and they work on some slims.
That is a totally false statement. Fat PS3s had some models with a card reader and 4 USB ports and only those could play PS2 games. There was never anything that you could purchase. download. or add, and no hardware or software to a PS3 that could not already play PS2 games to be able to allow them to play them. For the ones that can play PS2 games they can only play some titles and only the 20 GB and 60 GB USA or Japan models can play the most PS2 titles. PS3s have not been procuded that can play PS2 games since the 80GB switched to a newer model in August 2008. Even before that the 40 GB models could not plauy the PS2 games. The ability to play PS2 games can not be added on and no PS3 produced after August 2008 can play PS2 games
The 20 GB PS3 could play PS2 games and so could the 60 GB model that was released with it and those machines are called the first generation PS3 Models. The second Generation PS3 model were the 60 GB Model and the 80 GB model and while they could play the PS2 games it was based on Partially software-based PS2 emulation while the earlier models were Hardware-based PS2 emulation. These 1st and 2nd generation PS3 models all included 4 USB ports and also had Flash memory card readers. The 3rd generation of PS3 models had the 40 GB, the 80 GB, and the 160 GB Harddrives but only 2 USB ports and do not play PS2 games with backward compatibility. The fourth Generation of PS3s are the 120 GB and 250 GB PS3 slim model which do not play PS2 games with Backward Compatibility. All PS3 models play PlayStation 1 Games and do so through software emulation.
Every PlayStation 2 game is playable on a PS3. No only the early PS3 consoles with 4 USB ports could play PS2 games.
Yes it is the PlayStation 2 game console released in 2000 and currently has sold 150 million PS2 consoles for playing Video games. The next model after it the PS3 was released in November 2006 and it has sold 50 Million consoles. Both consoles are still being sold
On the older model PS3 with 4 USB ports most PS2 games can be played, but not on PS3 consoles that have only 2 USB ports. The 80GB model that went to Korea in Jul 2007 would probably have 4 USB ports and Models sent in late 2008 and 2009 would probably have 2 USB ports.
supposedly yes. I say supposedly because they say that some will play on PS3, however I've had many friends say that they've never found a ps2 game that will work on a ps3, even the most popular ones.

No PlayStation 3 games do NOT work on the PlayStation 2 system.
They do not play on even the early 4 USB port PS3 consoles. No PS2 games play on any other PS3 and can not be made to.
no
Someone looking to purchase PlayStation 2 consoles can find them at EB Games. One can also find them online on eBay or Amazon. One can also look on Craigslist for anyone selling them.
No they do not work in a PS2
The PlayStation 5 is amazing, did you know it sells in 2 different types of consoles? They offer cd rom consoles and non cd rom consoles where you can download your games to hard drive. The non cd rom consoles are cheaper.
