No, it will not break, but it may get stuck or freeze up or just not load. New PS3s do not play PS2 games and they say so in the ads and the box it comes in. PS3s have not played all PS2 titles flawlessly ever and the PS3 models that did play some PS2 Titles all had 4 USB ports.
