Will there ever be a 4th Back to the Future movie?

No- a "Back to the Future IV" had been planned which was to be followed by a "Back to the Future V" as well, but they both got scrapped as Michael J. Fox was unable to return as Marty McFly because of his Parkinson's disease.

It has already been confirmed that the series will always remain as the trilogy it currently is. A fourth movie had been planned a decade ago- but the script for it was scrapped due to Michael J. One had been planned for release back in the early 2000's to be followed by a "Back to the Future 5"- but it turned out Michael J. Fox could not do it because of his Parkinson's disease and Christopher Lloyd had no interest in reprising his former role. It was likely that the character Marty McFly would not even be in the stories and Doc Brown was going to be played by a different actor. They were thinking about having the fourth movie be about the Brown family going on time-travel adventures in the train seen at the end of the third movie. The idea of new movies being made for the franchise was unfortunately scrapped as the producers probably realized this series could not be as successful without the original actors.
