Your drains were blocked so you used rods to clear them unfortunately the plunger came of off the end and is now stuck about 8 feet up the pipe from the manhole how can you get it out?

So many questions to ask you. Plunger? Regular toilet plunger, rubber, 5 inches across? Fashion a large fish hook , attach to the end of the rod and spear it. Sporting goods store and get a 4 edge arrow. They are sharp enough to go through just about anything. If there is a cleanout either outside the house or in the basement go through that with an auger. They can be rented fairly cheaply. There is a bladder that you attach to a garden hose that swells up to block the line and then blows the blockage out with water. Again from a cleanout. Have to ask Why would you go from the manhole towards the house? Didn't want the mess inside I assume. Sometimes there is no avoiding the mess.
