If you are on antenna TV, it's likely because of the digital transition. A lot of areas that were covered under analog signals now no longer are. While you can get some stations, others might not show up at all. This is a common problem that was not foreseen by Congress in the digital switch.

A LAN(local area network) and WAN(wide area network). Yes, the difference is the geography of the network. exp. If you have a network in a room that's a LAN now if you want to connect to a building down the street you cant run a network cable down the road you have to go through a ISP(internet service provider) that would be considered a WAN.
