Eric Clapton was born and raised in Ripley, Surrey England. He bought a home close to this in a county called Ewehurst, England. He also has a family home in Minnasota. I believe he also has a residence in Antigua and quite possibly Cape Cod.
One of his main influences was Bing Crosby, another to a lesser extent was Mabel Mercer. He also listened to Russ Columbo and later Billie Holiday. Sinatra noted the influence of Tommy Dorsey's trombone playing in his phrasing and violinist Jasha Heifitz (sp).
