There used to be a voluntary industry limit of 18 minutes in an hour. I don't believe that principle carries any weight any more. I think what we're hearing today is a smaller commercial content from those stations with relatively low audience ratings, whereas from those with healthier audience numbers, all the minutes they can pile on before they start to lose share due to sounding ridiculous.
