Not really. I bought one in the 400-500 range and on day 2, the left speaker went out. The keys feel nice but the sound is not very realistic. It was a hassle to disassemble and return it to the store.
Electric pianos (aka digital pianos) are instruments that reproduce the sound made by acoustic pianos. Pianos produce their unique sound by the action of a felted hammers hitting strings of various lengths. Digital pianos replicate this sound with oscillators and speakers. Electric pianos and acoustic pianos are alike in that they have the same keyboard of 88 black and white keys, they produce a similar sound (though not identical), and they can be played in the same manner, especially if the digital piano has weighted keys and a damper pedal.
Most instruments are pianos, drums, bass, & viola.
I live in Seoul, South Korea. recently I bought a digital piano for my daughters, 8 & 6 years. The brand name is Dynaton. As I know they have been manufacturing electronic musical instruments more than 10 years. I've seen "Benjamin Adams" brand in their brochure to introduce their OEM customer overseas. By the way...my kids loved Dynaton digital piano, so it's a cool instrument in budget..
Some instruments with pedals are pianos, organs, harps, drums, and xylophones.
It's not ideal, but some digital pianos have weighted keyboards that make them very similar to "real" pianos.
