slayer is a very fast thrash metal band that I thoroughly enjoy. It is very different from megadeth/metallica though. To me, its death metal without the chromatic scales, without the blastbeats, and without the growls.

∙ 15y agoNo, not even close. If you are looking for more technical advanced bands look into progressive rock. progressive bands use almost every type of music and show a great variety in their songs. The best progressive heavy metal band woul be Dream Theater.
Their heaviest album is called Train of Thought.
