What do you mean "worth it" as in for the practice, the money the time?
For practice: Sure, to some extent. It's merely a hobby, having a tech deck in your pocket to flip around and impress people anywhere anytime, but it's not a serious thing.
For money: yeah, most of them are inexpensive, cheap, and disposable. Only 2$ at Walmart.
For time: some time will have to go into this to really get the tricks and flips down, but it always looks sick when you ollie over a small obstacle, but it doesn't happen overnight.

Typically you don't want to stain rosewood fretboards. You may however oil the rosewood to bring out a richer and deeper color. Always use oils specifically made for guitar fingerboards.
