* You first must be a member of the tribe, * Contact your local tribal leadership about a grant (depending on the project you are interested in) * Submit the grant proposal to the tribal leaders * Wait for them to approve it * Wait for the BIA (US Government to approve that approval) * Hope you are still young enough to carry out the project.

To put this in simple terms; No you can't.

The BIA (US Government; department of the interior) owns and controls all 'funds' owed to any individual or group of indians, the BIA to date has never paid what it has owed or accounted for what happened to these funds (SEE: Cobel v. Norton).

You have to have the original documents ( either a birth or death certificate) of a member found on the Dawes roll. If you are a direct descendant you can get money. But you have to be able to prove it.

In Cherokee,NC if you have enough Cherokee Indian blood in you, you will earn over $1,000. However they will need to check your blood to make sure.
