The smallest band instruments are the piccolo, the piccolo Trumpet, the Soprano Saxophone, flute, cornet, Clarinet... i think that's it. I might have missed a few. These are in no particular order.
the piccolo has a higher pitch than a flute but a piccolo can get as silent as a flute it just depends on how good of a player you are . Any instrument can go from playing very soft to playing very loud music. Piccolos are the highest pitched instrument in a band and even if your not playing loud you can be heard over the rest of the band trust me i play the piccolo and i play very loud caz i like people to know i am playing.
in the woodwind section just like the flute how do i know???? experience play in band going to play flute more info flutes and piccolos are pretty much the same thing just piccolos are smaller and more expensive!;) plus the piccolo is in the band not orchestra!!!!!!!!;) ^actually, piccolos are in orchestra. In an orchestra, there are typically 2 flutes and one piccolo player. They are not just in band.
The name of a mini flute instrument is called a piccolo.
It depends. If you want to be in a marching band or anything outdoors make sure to buy a marching band piccolo with a black plastic cover. If you want to use it just for concerts indoors than get a wooden one.

my name is hi-low, piccolo, piccalo hi low hi lo piccalo piccalo no name
piccolo
over all the piccolo is one octave higher then the flute. Which means that the piccolo is higher but sometimes in band pieces the piccolo part is one octave down then the flute part so the piccolo will be playing in the same octave but most of the time the piccolo part will be one octave up from the flute for as example if a person plays a low b flat on the flute and an other person played the low b flat on the piccolo there will be an octave difference I hope this makes sense to you.
it sound similar to a flute but really really..........high pitched and loud it is recommended if playing near metal to wear ear plugs sometimes it can over shot the band it in a school band
Sometimes a piccolo is in an orchestra.
