Generally no.
Each state has its own laws regarding gun ownership, and mental illness is usually a disqualifier in all of them.
The term "mental illness" can refer to many different problems, some serious, others not. If ever there is a borderline case, I think the authority would err on the side of caution and not allow such ownership.
Everyone has their own theoretical illness but no he does not have an illness if you are asking sickness. If he had mental of emotional illness's he would not be hired to act. Well at least if they knew it but that is for him to know.

There is an undercurrent of deep sadness running all the way through the novel. When he leaves Pency "I almost felt like crying". When he thinks of the nuns going about their daily routine "It made me feel so damn sad". He also refers in several places to his loneliness. And his realization that he could never rub out a tiny percentage of the "F---You"s in the world, and someone will probably put one on his own tombstone depresses him acutely.

It depends what kind of talking. Generally, if you are aware these are your own thoughts (i.e. you don't have a thought disorder and think someone is planting them in your head), you do not have a mental illness. This is actually quite normal, and some people even talk to themselves out loud.
It depends on the family history and the type of mental illness that you are talking about. Some kinds of mental illness do run in the family and others happen on their own.

Depression can occur on its own, or as a symptom of other problems. That is why it is important that it be addressed by a specialist, not by a family doctor.

No it is not a mental illness if a person feels they deserve by peace and quiet alone every so often, but it is a problem if the person does nothing but want to be alone and becomes a hermit or ceases to see family and friends. A person who enjoys their own company and can entertain themselves is a person that is mature and has a good balance with their own psyche.
OpinionOf course. It is sad that someone was driven by circumstances to take his or her own life, or perhaps sufferred from an untreated mental illness that led to the same outcome. And the person's family and friends are grieving at this sad loss. You can help their grief by showing the same feelings towards someone you knew in better times.
No. It can be a part of a depressive episode, but on its own procrastination is experienced several times per week, at least, by the vast majority of the human population.
It would be hard to say if you had a mental illness. not showing feelings and not trusting anyone is a normal responce to that situation even if it feels comforting to think u have an illness. Although something needs to be done you cant live like that *hug*
It is left unstated and open to your own interpretation to what Gregor suffered from. It widely believed that Gregor suffered from a mental illness rather than a physical one.
