A MATTER OF SIZE & SOUNDBoth tenor and plectrum banjo are 4 string instruments and are capable of rendering a wide variety of musical types - ranging from jazz to classical and even bluegrass plus everything in between. The tenor banjo is usually configured with ether 17 frets (favored for playing Celtic tunes) or 19 frets (generally favored for gay nineties sing-along tunes, show tunes, ballads. It is tuned CGDA (in 5ths) and renders a bright ringing sound.
