But when I went through the university music school (which I admit was 35 years ago) a performance degree in any musical discipline was a Masters, minimum. In the high falootin' music schools, (Julliard, Curtis), it is commonly a certificate over and aboveMasters.
It's all about the audition, not the degree. That said, most people who make it into orchestras have graduate degrees in music performance.
Normally graduate degrees do not require undergraduate degrees in the same subject. However, you may have to take some specific undergraduate courses while pursuing your masters degree.
