An aeolian harp is an open box over which strings are stretched so that they sound when the wind passes over them.
A box harp is a type of musical instrument that belongs to the zither family. It typically features a wooden body resembling a box, with strings stretched across it that can be plucked or strummed to produce sound. Often associated with folk music, box harps vary in design and size, and they can be played solo or as part of an ensemble. Their unique shape contributes to a distinct, resonant tone, making them popular in various cultural traditions.
The harp is a unique member of the stringed instrument family. Like other members of the string family, the harp's sound is produced by vibrating strings stretched between parts of a wooden frame or box. On a harp, the strings' vibrations are produced by being plucked by hand, while seven pedals at the bottom of the harp adjust the length of the strings to produce more notes.
I think that the vibrations of the strings in the box of the guitar is what causes the sound to come out. That is why it is hollow in the box and that is why paint on the box of the guitar dampens the sound of it.
what you need:cardboard: box knife: fishing line: sharpie: hot glue gun and a few dowels. first take the cardboard and the sharpie and make a outline of a violin its easyer to look at a picture to kind of get a idea of the shape then take the box knife and cut it out then repeat three or four times then glue them together then take some more cardboard and make a square the width of the middle of the violin and glue it down then take a dowel and put it on the bodom of the violen and glue it. Now take the fishing line cut three even pieces and glue it to one end then the other. Finale the last step take another dowel and put a strip of velt on the sid that you will use on the strings and glue it down this will be your bow you use it to make the music and thats how you make a cardboard violin.

A harp can be loud without a soundbox by using a pickup or microphone to amplify the sound. This allows the sound to be electronically processed and increased in volume. Additionally, the strings of the harp can be plucked forcefully to create a louder sound.

Depending on where your pool motor is located, you can hide the noise it creates by building a soundproof box around it. Build a box with a top and three sides (leaving one side and the bottom open. Apply green glue to the box and then cover it with a second layer of wood or drywall, whichever you used to create the box. The Green Glue will rest between the two layers and absorb the sound the pool motor makes. Paint or finish the box any way you'd like so that it matches the decor of your yard. Place the box over the motor and you'll immediately notice a huge difference in the amount of sound that escapes.
Find a box the right sort of size, then stick string securely with glue and tape. When the glue is dry stick brown paper that you can buy in the shops and stick it around the box.
