Can you program pictures in a video editor to time to the lyrics or beat of a certain song?

Your video editing program should allow you to set markers while continuously playing the video by pressing a key ( ie. * key in Premiere, on the numeric pad) . You can hit that key every time there is a downbeat and it will set a marker, then you can manually cut the clip/picture at that point (having ripple edit enabled will make it easier) or have your program cut to the markers if it supports this. SpeedEdit from NewTek has a feature in its "Tool Shed" menu under "Wizards" called "Cut to Music" that will cut the clips to the markers and ripple them so that they are all back to back.
