What year was your macbook made in? My macbook is from 2008 and there is no mic imput on it. Only Macbook pro models created after 2009 have a mic imput. You can always use a usb mic that plugs into a usb slot.
No. There is no way to record in stereo using the mic input on a phone. To do this, you would need to use an interface and plug into the multipin connector

You have to use an USB audio interface because the new MacMini (2011 and later) doesn't have a mic input. The only sound input is a LineIn. The cheapest solution can be some USB-headset.
