Both have communion each Sunday. Church of Christ do not have candles or statues. The ministers of Churst of Christ do not wear special robes, they dress as others in the church do. Mary does not play a role in the Church of Christ. Jesus is the head of the church as it is in the Catholic Church. Priest are the leaders of their churches while Church of Christ have selected men in the church who make the decision and never go outside their individual church for advice. The Catholic Church is the true Church founded by Christ Himself, and historically can be traced in lineage back to the original Apostles and Christ.

The differences in the Mass are various in conduct, however the commonalities are that they are based on The Bible and the Word of God. The primary differences include the fact that the Catholic Mass has the true body and blood of Christ, through following Christ's mandate by the consecration of the bread and wine as it was instructed in the Bible by Jesus to do. Other protestant (aka protest against the Church) Christian religions use a "representation" and do not believe in the miracles of the faith.

The Catholic Mass is Universal, meaning that if you travel the world or discuss your faith with others of the faith, you are part of One True Body of Christ. The same scripture readings are read around the World at Catholic Mass; the same teaching and catechism is use throughout the entirety of the Catholic Church (the word catholic in fact means "for all and universal"). In this way, the true faith of Christ is upheld in unison rather than each individual local group of men making decisions on how their local church should be led based on biases and social ques of their local area or personal perspectives.

Another differences is that the Church of Christ service is led by ministers who are "elected" by the local congregation and have spouses and families if they choose. The Catholic Mass and the body of the church is led by a Priest, who, in following Christ's original direction and call to the Apostles to "come follow me" they leave behind pursuit of worldly possessions and commit themselves and their lives completely to following Christ and leading His Church with no other commitments or priorities aside from their walk of discipleship of Christ.

The Catholic Mass can seem unusual and uncomfortable at first, but it is easily welcoming when an understanding is sought and participation in the celebration of the sacred mysteries of the Mass is participated in. If you think back to Christ, He was a Jew. The sacredness of unified prayer and the honor and respect to the Lord in the traditions and rituals of the Mass trace back to Christ's teaching and modeling of His Church when He originally began His Church for Jew's and the gentiles following the disciples; the structure and design of the Mass is taken from these original beginnings of the Catholic Church of Christ, and have been maintained in the Catholic Church for over 2,000 years.

Did the Catholic Church split over the debate faith vs work?

Catholic AnswerNo, the Catholic Church is incapable of splitting, when Our Blessed Lord, Jesus Christ, established the Church on the apostle Peter (see St. Matthew 16:17-19) He guaranteed it until the end of the world and sent the Holy Spirit to guide it always. The Orthodox Churches left the Catholic Church in the eleventh century, and various heresies have left the Catholic Church over the centuries, most notably (in modern times) the protestant heresy in the 16th century.

Are Catholics and Christians the same?

Catholic just means "universal." It was adopted as a label in the second century to distinguish the churches that were in fellowship with each other throughout the Roman world, and to distinguish them from the other Christian movements, such as the Marcionites, and the Gnostics, who were not accepted by the "Catholic" Christians. Most people are familiar with the word Catholic referring to the Roman Catholic Church. The Catholic Church is a branch of Christianity. Catholic and Christian have always been two words for the same thing, but since the Protestant Reformation, Catholic (or Roman Catholic) has been used to identify that part of the western Church that is under the Pope, just as Orthodox has been used to identify most of the eastern Churches.Orthodox just means "right opinion."It follows that Catholics, Protestants, and Orthodox can all be called Christian, since they all follow Christ..Catholic AnswerAccording to the Catholic Church, Roman Catholic is the only type of Christianity. Those who are not in communion with her but are validly baptized are Christians to the extent that they believe the the Nicene Creed in its traditional interpretation, and attempt to live that life. Christianity is the belief in Jesus Christ, which involves living the life that He is asking you to live, and believing in Him. As Jesus Christ only established one Church, and He was very specific about that, and that one Church is both His Body, and His Bride. That One Church is the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. All other ecclesial communities who call themselves "Christian Churches" are heretical to one extent or another. They have redefined terms such as "Christianity" in order to mean other things which would include themselves in "Christianity". This is an error. The ecumenical movement, contrary to what many believe has only one purpose, and that is to return all of those who profess belief in Jesus Christ back to the true Church. The current state of affairs, which has involved redefining language, re-writing history, and redefining Jesus, Himself, has got to stop. To deny that the Catholic Church is the only "Christian" Church is, to some extent, to deny Jesus Christ, and attempt to redefine Him as something other than what He was.

What is the difference between Catholic and protestant chuches?

Catholic AnswerTechnically speaking, Jesus Christ only established one Church, and promised that it would be One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic, until the end of the world. So we can really talk about protestant "churches". The protestant ecclesial communities are those who protested some, or many, teachings of Christ maintained by the Church. In protesting them, they broke away, and denied some or all of the teachings of Christ. In the process, they lost Apostolic Succession, true Sacraments, and most of the means of grace that Jesus left His Church. The difference between the Catholic and the Protestant boil down, so to speak, to an either/or vs. a Both/and attitude.AnswerTo the Protestant: The Bible Alone is all that is needed if it ain't there - it ain't Christian and it, the Bible, is the only thing you need for Salvation. Either you use the Bible, the Word of God, or man-made traditions. To the Catholic: it is both the Bible (a Catholic Tradition) and the Traditions of the Apostles. Part of Tradition is the Bible which the Catholic Church wrote, and put together in the fifth century. There was no New Testament for the first generation or two of Christians as it wasn't written yet. And at there point there were dozens if not hundreds of books all claiming to be the Gospel, it was for several hundred years after this that the Pope and the Bishops decided which books would be in the New Testament. For the protestants to claim it must be in the Bible is completely disingenuous as the Bible is part of the teaching of the Catholic Church. As a source of doctrine, the Catholic Church relies upon divinely guaranteed tradition, not upon merely human tradition. This divine tradition is the teaching of Christ, given orally to the Apostles and handed down in the Church, although not written in the pages of the New Testament. - Radio Replies vol. 1 sec. 584..Catholic AnswerThe Catholic Church was founded by Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit in the first century to bring God to the people and the people to God. The protestant "churches" were founded by individuals sixteenth centuries after Christ according to their own personal beliefs. Catholics believe that God the Son became incarnate in a human body through the Holy Spirit and the Blessed Virgin Mary to save mankind from their sins. He established His Church and appointed Apostles (Bishops) and Peter (Pope) to guide that Church on earth and He guaranteed to be with It until the end of time. Catholics believe that you only have one choice in life: to love and serve the Lord, or to reject Him and be separated from Him forever in Hell. Every other choice you have in life comes down to that, is this following Jesus or rejecting Him.Protestants reject Christ because they reject His Body: the Church. They believe that they are their own little Pope and that they can decide how to follow Jesus themselves. Thus they fragment into many "denominations" as they decide how they want to follow God, ignoring what He, Himself has said, and interpreting for themselves what is right or wrong. Thus they believe that they have more choices than following God or not, they believe that they have the choice to decide HOW they are going to follow God.

What if a non Catholic is taking holy communion how different is it from Catholic?

I am assuming you mean how different is communion in a non-catholic church vs. Holy Communion in a Catholic Church? In that instance, Holy Communion in a Catholic Church is, literally, the Body and Blood of Our Blessed Savior; brought about through the direct intervention of the Holy Spirit working through the priest who pronounces the words of consecration. For a Catholic to receive Holy Communion in a state of grace confers more grace through fulfilling Our Blessed Lord's command to eat His Body and drink His Blood. For a non-Catholic or a Catholic in a state of mortal sin to receive Holy Communion is to eat condemnation as St. Paul points out "and this is why many of your are ill and dying"

The Reformed Episcopal church uses the 1789 Book of Common Prayer " BCP." This distinguishes it from all other U.S. Episcopal churches and for that matter ALL churches.
