Crescent was a shotgun manufacturer that primarily supplied the hardware/catatlog stores from the 1890's through 1920. JC Higgins never made rifles, this was a brand name used by Sears. Sears had several gun companies making rifles for them under the name JC Higgins. If you want it identified, take it to a gun shop and ask them to identify the original maker. It most likely will be a Mossberg, Savage or some other brand name manufacture. Then you will be able to locate a stock for the rifle.
