Most of the films in which Autrey appeared are "contemporary" in the sense that they are supposed to be taking place at the time the movie is released. We thus see 1930s & 1940s hair-styles, fashions, music, and transportation. So, in SOME films, automobiles definitely appear. During the film In Old Monterey , for example, a 1930s tank appears.

Autrey was a pretty good horse rider, and did so when the horse was going slowly.

But the fiscal reality of making films -- the slightest injury to a star could cost a LOT of money in delayed production -- required that hard riding be done by a stunt rider. It would be impossible to sort out which scenes in his 79 films were himself and which were stunt riders.

How many horses did Gene Autry have?

Autry owned a series of horses, all named Champion, which he rode himself in scores of his films. As a film star, he would not perform dangerous stunts on any horse, but Autry could most definitely ride a horse in a parade.

What is the song with these lines-you got spurs that jingle jangle jingle as you go riding merrily along?

The song was done by at least two country artists that I know of. The title of the song is "(I've Got Spurs That) Jingle Jangle Jingle". Both Gene Autry and 'Tex' Ritter did a recording of this tune but I believe Tex Ritter's version is more popular. Tex Ritter's real name is Woodward Maurice Ritter. Gene is actually Autry's middle name. Autry's first name is Orvon. However the most popular version of all was a big band rendition by the Kay Kyser Orchestra.

Who first recorded Here Comes Santa Claus?

The song has been recorded many times and I think one of the best is the Ronettes with full-throttle Spector harmony- all four cylinders open wide- she"s pulling down the main! (main line) yes, that Veronica so grab your Vodka and stay awares, cause Stacy R "s coming tonight ! whatt, that"s not Veronica, but I like the Ronettes" version of the song, very up beat- like 80 Miles plus.Nearly all singers have reordered the Christmas song 'here comes Santa Claus'
