This is strictly a matter of opinion, but does have some objective basis.

The style of performance for the two singers was entirely different. Michael Jackson (1958-2009) was more highly trained in late 20th Century dance forms than was James Brown (1933-2006). Jackson utilized these skills extensively in performances and music videos.

James Brown absolutely influenced Mick Jagger's style on stage in the early days. Watch the leg shaking and foot sliding from the old clips. However, later on, in the late sixties, it was Tina Turner who taught Mick how to loosen up on stage. He adapted that style through most of the seventies.
