It wasn't so much that the family didn't think Bobby was good enough. They worried that he did not have a good relationship history, and he was a drug user. They were concerned that she was choosing a "bad boy" who would not be a positive influence on her. And they seem to have been right. That said, Whitney told interviewers that she really loved Bobby (and vice versa); but the marriage was very tempestuous (typical of relationships between two people who use hard drugs), and later, it turned violent. That is probably why they got divorced. No doubt, even later, they still had some feelings for each other, and by all accounts, both loved their daughter Bobbi Kristina.

Who is Whitney Houston god mother?

Many media sources have reported that it was Aretha Franklin, but in an interview with Al Roker after Whitney Houston's death, Aretha stated that she was not Whitney's godmother, but rather, a very close family friend. That said, Whitney thought of Aretha as a member of the family, and there are reports she called her "Aunt Ree" when still a child. But after Whitney died, reports also surfaced that Aretha and Cissy Houston (Whitney's mom) had a dispute and became estranged from each other; this may explain why Aretha began to disavow any relationship to the family. Why did Whitney Houston not sing We Are the World?

It is difficult to know the answer to this, but there are several possibilities. First, nothing sinister or negative should be assumed about the artists who did not perform on it. In January 1985, when it was recorded, a large number of artists were asked to participate. Many did, but others were unable to clear out the time in their schedules; some were touring, others were recording, and others were not considered well-known enough to be asked. In January 1985, Whitney Houston was not yet famous. She had sung back-up vocals for others, but her own solo album was not yet released. It may be she was not asked to perform, or it may be she had other commitments for her new record company. In either case, her lack of participation is does not mean that she was unwilling or uncaring.

Who makes more money Mariah Carey or Whitney Houston?

Assuming this question means "who has more money?", one must look very closely at this. These two women are extremely wealthy but Whitney is most likely to have more. One might assume that because Mariah has eighteen #1 US songs and has sold 150 million albums that she is richer, as Whitney has eleven #1 US songs and has sold 130 million albums. Truth be told, Mariah has released almost twice as many albums to sell only a mere twenty million more copies. And attaining #1 songs can be achieved as much through creativity and manipulation as through popularity of a song. For instance; Billboard ranks songs based on how well the song sells AND how much it is played on the radio for that week. These two components are merged together to give the song points; the more points the song has for the week, the higher it is placed on the singles chart. Now say in March, a song sold 5000 copies in a week and received 8000 airplays across the country, and that's enough points to be the #1 song in the country for THAT week. Now say another artist in July has sold 6500 copies in a week and received 10,000 airplays, and that's enough points for the #4 song for THAT particular week. Well, as you can see, the #4 song actually sold more copies and had more radio airplay. Had the #1 song from March been released in July instead, it may have only peaked at #11 on the Hot 100 as opposed to #1. So 18 number-one singles doesn't carry the weight it may seem. Now Mariah has written a lot of her songs, but Whitney is a major artist internationally, Mariah not as big globally. Whitney has toured heavily and has made money from extensive worldwide tours since her 1985 debut; Mariah has rarely toured since her 1990 debut. Whitney has made money from starring in several succssful motion pictures. She also produced other films including the Princess Diary series, the Cheetah Girls, and Cinderella. Mariah did not make much from Glitter or Precious (which she didn't star in). Whitney received a $100 million deal from Arista Records, while Mariah's $80 million deal from Virgin Records was rescinded. Whitney has somewhat more money. Mariah is filthy rich, but the edge slightly tilts towards Whitney's favor.

Who is Whitney Houston's godmother?

Media sources for years reported that Aretha Franklin was Whitney's godmother, and she did not correct that assertion. But more accurately, she seems to have been Whitney Houston's honorary Aunt; Whitney referred to her as "Aunt Ree". Whitney Houston's actual Godmother is Darlene Love. In an interview with Al Roker after Whitney's death, Aretha Franklin confirmed that she was not Whitney Houston's Godmother, but a very close family friend and an honorable "Aunt" to Whitney. It should also be noted that Aretha seemed to have gotten into some sort of dispute with Whitney's mom, Cissy Houston, about whether the family had done enough to keep Whitney off drugs; perhaps Aretha has been trying to separate herself from the family by now saying she was never Whitney's godmother.
