He married a white woman who was a dancer before he passed and it has commonly been believed that they passed themselves off as white. Billies mother married a man named Phillip Gough which Billie mentions in her book "Lady sings the blues" his daughter Kay Kelly always claimed to be Billies half sister even posting bail for her supposedly in a Philadelphia arrest and showing up at her bedside before her death buying night gowns for her "sister" however, as Phillip Gough is not Billies natural father and her mother Sadie Fagan did not bare Kay Kelly basically she is of no relation except thru a marriage that ended in divorce in the 1920s

In her autobiography she in her own words says she learned at her fathers funeral that her father Clarence had romanced and had two children with a white woman. The woman (whom She referred to as a “second step-mother”) had come to the funeral with the two children ( boy and girl) who were both white.

the second step-mother told Billie she was bringing the children up white and it was implied they didn’t know this was their fathers funeral.

If the woman had indeed had a relationship with Clarence Holiday, then Billie definitely has two half-siblings and it’s possible they may not know they’re related to Holiday which is potentially why we’ve never seen them in the public eye or heard their names.
