Where would marching bands play?

Marching bands DO play at home football games, and parades.

What are marching band work ethics?

Speaking from personal experience, I can tell you right away that marching band takes a lot of dedication and hard work. You have to memorize the music, then memorize the drill for the music. The drill is the marching that you do while you play on the field. To top it all off, you have to put the two together. Now, some bands are "contest bands", which means they actually compete. Other bands are "show bands" which basically means they just play at football games or whatever, but not as a competition. The show bands tend to not have as complicated music or drills, but even so, it could take some work. Also, I've seen show bands that use lyres, which holds their music for them. So, really, show bands are much easier than contest bands. Just to clarify, the contest bands take A LOT of work if you want to be any good, and the show bands take work too, but aren't as difficult. Hope I answered your question!

Is there credit for marching band?

Typically, if you enroll in marching band in high school or college, you receive some academic credit - about 1 or 2 credit hours. Using the Bowling Green State University Falcon Marching Band as my reference (a band that I am a proud member of), grading is based on your daily attendance, music memorization check-offs, attendance at games, and overall perceived attitude by the director.

What is the song that high school bands play at football games?

Typically they would play the school fight song, and perhaps The Star Spangled Banner. They would likely play many other songs as well. However, I'm afraid that no specific song has ever been universally performed by every high school marching band in the country.

Does band look good on a college application?

It depends on how much your marching band does, whether you only perform at football games every other week or whether your school does field shows and have a competition every weekend. It also depends on your school's marching band reputation. Colleges usually would know that marching band takes up a lot of time and they'll take that into consideration. It'll look even better if you continued to stick with marching throughout your four years in high school and you are/were drum major, section leader, captain, etc. This shows that you're involved in leadership and that you're commited to marching band, not just being in it. Whether your school's marching band is a small one or a big one with a good reputation, colleges definitely would like it if you stuck to it and how involved you are with it. Overall, it isn't the fact that you are in marching band versus something like basketball or NHS. The colleges like to see that you have the deteremination to stick with something. If marching band is something that you want to do, go for it.

Does Barack Obama want kids to wear uniforms at school?

President Obama has not taken a stand on this subject, since it is not really a national concern, but rather, it's a local decision, often made by school committees in a particular city or town. The president has expressed his belief that schools should have a curriculum that challenges students and inspires excellence, and he has expressed his views on what makes a school effective. But issues like uniforms are not something he has discussed.
