Yes! But the tone of each keys are different.

Actually, it depends on what you mean. If you mean the number of black and what keys on the keyboard, no, they do not all have the same number. A "standard" piano has 88 keys, and that is the most common, but not all pianos have that number.

How would say the piano and electric piano are alike?

Electric pianos (aka digital pianos) are instruments that reproduce the sound made by acoustic pianos. Pianos produce their unique sound by the action of a felted hammers hitting strings of various lengths. Digital pianos replicate this sound with oscillators and speakers. Electric pianos and acoustic pianos are alike in that they have the same keyboard of 88 black and white keys, they produce a similar sound (though not identical), and they can be played in the same manner, especially if the digital piano has weighted keys and a damper pedal.

What has eight strings?

I am not aware of any instrument having 88 strings. Pianos generally have 88 keys but there are more than one string for each key. The orignal answers below talk about the number of keys as well as the number of strings on a harp, but no harp has 88 strings. ======================================================= Piano (para 1). Harpsichord (para 2). Harp (para3). Organ (para 4) The keys are connected to the hammers which in turn hit the strings. Open a piano and have a look! Some Pianos do not have 88 keys. They normally range from 86 - 88 keys. Also Harpsichords sometimes have 88 keys but They generally have 4 to 6 octaves so, around 48-72. Harpsichords with double manuals, have the double of keys, so 96-144. Harps also sometimes have 88 keys but it varies with each harp. Non-pedal harps can have anywhere from 20 to 40 strings. Usually harps that have 20 to about 30 strings are referred to as lap harps. A good size lap harp has about 22 to 24 strings. A standard folk harp has 36 strings, thought the more commonly preferred size is 34 strings. Pedal harps can have anywhere from 40 to 48 strings. The Triple Strung harp or Welsh harp has 88 strings the same amount of strings as keys on a piano, but these are exceedingly rare, so I wouldn't worry about this one. Organs vary the most. Some Organs have one Keyboard, others have 2, 3, 4 and sometimes 5! The present main console is normally four manuals of 61 keys each, so the total is 244 manual keys. And there are 32 pedal keys.

How is a harpsichords sound produced?

Who decided how many keys a piano would have?

Many different people have created different versions of the piano, such as the Grand and the Steinway Grand pianos, but almost every modern piano has 36 black keys and 52 white keys for a total of 88 keys (seven octaves plus a minor third cord, from A0 to C8). Although, some pianos, such as Bosendorfer pianos, for example, extend the normal range down into F0, with one other model going as far as C0, making a full eight octave range. These extra keys are sometimes hidden under a small hinged lid than can cover the keys to prevent visual disorientation for pianists unfamiliar with the extra keys. On others, the colors of the extra white keys are reversed (black instead of white). The extra keys are added primarily for the increased resonance for the associated strings; that is, they vibrate sympathetically with other strings whenever the damper pedal is depressed and thus give a fuller tone. Only a very small number of works composed for piano actually uses these notes. More recently, the Stuart and Sons piano company has also manufactured extended-range pianos, with the first 102 key piano. On their instruments, the frequency range extends from C0 to F8, which is the widest practical range for the acoustic piano. The extra keys are the same as other keys in appearance.Small studio upright acoustical pianos with only 65 keys have been manufactured for use by roving pianists. Known as gigpianos and still containing a cast iron harp, these are comparatively lightweight and can be easily transported to and from engagements by only two people. As their harp and is longer than that of a spinet or console piano, they have a stronger bass sound that to some pianists is well worth the trade-off in range that a reduced key-set offers. The toy piano manufacturer Schoenhut started manufacturing both grands and uprights with only 44 or 49 keys, and shorter distance between the keyboard and the pedals. These pianos are true pianos with action and strings. The pianos were introduced to their product line in response to numerous requests in favor of it.

How many strings are there on a clavichord?

Overall, the number of keys will vary, most have 4 to 5 octaves. Some have 2 manuals (keyboards) which means double the keys. So to answer question about 48-60 for one manual harpsichords, and 96-120 for double manual keyboards.
