How did John Lennon get involved in the peace movement?

"All we are saying is give peace a chance." These lyrics are essentially what John Lennon stood for. The words to the song "Give Peace a Chance" express how Lennon felt about peace. In his Beatle days, Lennon was the rowdy one. Always willing to voice his opinion, often to the shock of others, he offended many people. As Lennon grew older, he met his partner Yoko Ono and embarked on a journey of peace that remains legend to this day. They staged "Bed-Ins," where the pair posed for days at a time in a bed campaigning for peace. They used their fame to promote a cause they were passionate about, peace, and the pair campaigned for this together until Lennon's untimely death in 1980. To this day, John Lennon remains a symbol of serenity and love. His words are still very much alive, saying "You may say I'm a dreamer but I'm not the only one." These words are very true. He is not the only one. His influence and vision captivated people until his death and continue to persuade people toward peace today. Not only was John Lennon a musician; he was also a figure that remains in society as one of the ultimate peacemakers of our time.

When was george Harrison's last performance?

"Yes, I am," in response to, "Are You John Lennon?" is frequently cited as Lennon's "Last Words." However with many reported last words they may be more myth then fact. The myth is based on the story that the police officer did not recognize someone as famous as John Lennon (and Yoko would have been present too). This is actually a restatement or twisting of the question the officer did likely ask: "Do you know who you are" which would have been an attempt to determine Lennon's level of consciousness. Different versions have him answering or not in different manners, some state he said he was John Lennon. That is doubtful, Lennon's mouth was bleeding profusely at this point. More likely, the alternative version is accurate, that Lennon slightly nodded (or appeared to nod) and could only manage a gurgling sound from his throat before he lost consciousness totally. This concurs with reports of levels of severity of his injuries. Lennon's blood loss was so great, before the police arrived that the concierge at The Dakota realizing the severity of the injuries, simply covered Lennon with his uniform's jacket and removed his blood covered glasses then summoned police. Sources for this include the discussion in the Last Words reference book, Last Words of Notable People -- Final Words of More than 3500 Noteworthy People Throughout History by William B. Brahms (Reference Desk Press, 2010), Brahms also cites the Lennon biography, John Ono Lennon Volume 2, 1967-1980 by Ray Coleman (Sidgwick & Jackson, 1984) which also gives this as the quote. NYPD Officers Bill Gamble and James Moran, who placed John Lennon in the back of their squad car to take him immediately to Roosevelt Hospital rather than wait for an ambulance, have been interviewed numerous times since that night. They both claim that John's last word was "Yeah" (moaned), in answer to their questions, "Do you know who you are? Are you John Lennon?" Prior to that, John did say "I'm shot!", according to Jay Hastings, the security man at the Dakota.
