Mickey Dolenz, Davey Jones, Peter Tork and Michael Nesmith. == George Michael Dolenz, David Thomas Jones, Peter Halsten Thorkelson & Robert Michael Nesmith On the show they went by Micky, Davy, Peter & Mike (respectively)
Micky Dolenz sang lead vocals on the majority of the Monkees' songs; Dolenz was considered by producers Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart to have the most commercial-sounding singing voice. Davy Jones considered himself "a song-and-dance man playing the part of a rock'n'roll singer", and was a close second on vocal duties. Nesmith sang on many of his own compositions, but gave vocal duties to Dolenz for some of them. Peter Tork was the most musically-accomplished band member (playing a dozen different instruments), but was considered to have the weakest singing voice, and was usually kept in the background.
He was about 5'3". He used to be a jockey before before he became famous in The Monkees.
Most of their songs were written by Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart, Gerry Goffin and Carole King, and also Neil Diamond. Michael Nesmith, however, also wrote a large number of songs for the group, and as the group became more successful Micky Dolenz, Peter Tork, and Davy Jones began writing songs for it.
In late 1968 after the Monkees' feature length movie Head flopped, Peter Tork left the group. Two additional albums were recorded with the remaining three. In 1970 Michael Nesmith bought out his contract and left the group leaving only Davy Jones and Micky Dolenz. After they recorded one additional album to settle their contract, the Monkees dissolved.
There were 4 members of the Monkeys: Peter Tork, Michael Nesmith, Davy Jones and Micky Dolenz.

The Monkees were a pop rock quartet assembled by Robert "Bob" Rafelson and Bert Schneider in Los Angeles in 1966 for the Americantelevision series The Monkees, which aired from 1966 to 1968. The members were Americans Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith, Peter Tork, and Englishman Davy Jones, who were supervised and popularized by Don Kirshner. At the time of the band's formation, its producers saw The Monkees as a Beatles-like band.[1] At the start, the band members provided vocals, and were given some performing and production opportunities, but they eventually fought for and earned the right to collectively supervise all musical output under the band's name. The group undertook several concert tours, allowing an opportunity to perform as a live band as well as on the TV series. Although the show was canceled in 1968, the band continued releasing records until 1970. In the 1980s, the television show and music experienced a revival, which led to a series of reunion tours, and new records featuring various incarnations of the band's lineup.
They are scattered around the country living their lives. Davy lives on a Pennsylvania farm and raises racing horses. Micky lives in LA and performs sporadically. Peter lives in the New England area and tours with his band Shoe Suede Blues. Mike lives in New Mexico and operates his website, Videoranch.
