Alex had a half-brother called Thomas (not Daniel as people seem to believe), and he did NOT commit suicide, he died in his sleep. Alex confirmed this when he said, "Tom Gaskarth was my brother. Tom Gaskarth did not commit suicide. Just like you all had his name wrong, you also have other facts wrong. Tom didn't take his own life, it just drifted away from him as he slept. I'm sure the majority of people don't mean to be hurtful and have just interpreted the lyrics wrongly, but it's not nice to see his memory being trashed all over the internet."

Alex has the initials T.E.G. tattooed in Tom's memory.

Alex also has two half-sisters, called Jillian and Helen. His half-siblings were his father's children from his first marriage. Alex confirmed this in an interview with the British rock magazine 'Rock Sound' in March 2011.

He did have a brother but he killed himself a few years back. That's what the songs "Lullabies" and "We All Fall Down" are written about. Some people say that he also has a sister but I havn't found any proof.
