The band's official biography suggests that, during their first few U.S. tours, there was a fair amount of partying probably involving soft drug usage (e.g. cannabis), but they soon took things more seriously and probably calmed down once they started headlining their own shows in America. Although drummer Nicko McBrain earned the nickname "Mr Excess", the only member we know for sure that took hard substances was Paul Di'Anno (singer from 78-81) who took large amounts of cocaine. The only member who we know has never taken any drugs is Steve Harris (bassist).

Not only that, but Bruce Dickinson is also against drug use.

Bruce Dickinson has stated that at one point there was some drugs but not anymore and anyway it was mainly booze
