The amount of beats per note really depends on the key, but in a typical 4-4 here would be the counts:
Whole note - 4 beats
Half note - 2 beats
Quarter note - 1 beat
Eighth not - 1/2 beat
For every note there is 1 (one) rest to equal it.
It gets half of a beat. Two eighth notes equal one quarter note.
There are two 8th notes in a quarter note. There are two quarter notes in a half note and two half notes in a whole note.
8 a dotted sixteenth is equal to rest/note is equal to 3/8 of a beat in 4/4 time signature. a dotted half is equal to 3 beats or 24/8 of a beat. so 24/3=8
Only one thing. A dotted half-note. The dot extends the length of a note by one-half. There is nothing in notation that stands for a three/quarter note.
1 (rest) 3 (rest), I belive.

Whole, half, quarter, eighth, sixteenth... You can have a rest for every value of note.

There are two beats in a minim rest. A minim is a two beat note so a minim rest would be a two beat note where your not playing!Fizzysweete
it has the same value as a quarter note.

A corresponding rest to a minim note is the minim rest. It is also known as half note rest. The half note rest denotes silence for two beats.
2
A semibreve is the same as a 'whole note' in US notation. It is equal to 4 beats in 4/4 time.
