Sorry -- hope this question is not 20 years old, but yes, I have heard of a group by this name, and given the region of the country, I think we are talking about the same people. I am looking for them also. If this is the group who did astounding versions of "Robe and Crown" etc., we are clearly talking about the same people. Last recollection: My good friend saying they had performed at the annual convention (??) or something similar for the Church of God of Prophecy. That may help. I have a few old tapes (yes, tapes -- it's been that long!) That was in about 1984 -- but they may still be around, and still affiliated. If this is the group -- they were astounding.

I do not know the name of the group but I believe they are Gospel singers. I heard it was the 5th Demension and that his band backed them up.
Two of the very best were Ethel Waters and Mahalia Jackson.
