I have a 95 Chevy Suburban and the drivers side rear barn door did the same thing. There are two rods connecting the drivers side door handle, the one just inside the jam, only accessable when you open the passenger side rear door. One rod goes to the top latch and the other to the bottom. Where the rods attach to the latches, both top and bottom, there are small wire clips that hold the rods in place. But, to attach the rods to the handle mechanism, small plastic clips were used. I had one bust allowing the rod to float freely. If you remove the plastic window surround and the bottom door panel, you can reach in and manually pull the free floating rod to release the door. I bought new clips, replaced both as they were very brittle, at the local Chevy dealer for $1.50 ea. Good Luck... Part Number 3905674 Rod Retainer
