radio waves are basically energy. This energy is sent in pulses that are basically binary code. Binary code is what computers think by. Is consists of zeros and ones. (10110100 etc.) This code is converted into each pixel of a picture, or each tone in music. It is complicated!

Similar to light - radiation coming from different directions will be directed to different parts of the light- or radiowave-gathering instrument. However, with radio waves, even though much larger telescope are used - like the 300-meter telescope in Arecibo - the images have much less resolution. This is due to the larger wavelengths involved.
