The radio signal isn't affected at all by the presence of nearby thunderstorms.

But the radio signals ("static") that pour out of a lightning strike in a short burst

may be strong enough that your receiver has a hard time telling the difference

between the static and the signal that you actually want to hear, so the "desired"

signal may be unintelligible for a split second.

Especially if you're trying to listen to AM radio. That's one of the advantages of FM ...

noise sources in Nature don't bother FM receivers as much as they bother AM receivers.

Oh ... there's another way that thunderstorms can affect radio signals. That's when

lightning strikes the transmitting tower directly, the spark gap at the bottom doesn't

work, the ground system hasn't been checked in a while, the strike fries the antenna,

the tuning network, or the transmission line, and the station goes off the air for a while.

What is the effect of energy on the waves that are involved in internet?

The information is transported on the Internet by electrical signals, light signals, radio waves, as in Wi-Fi; which one is used depends on the individual network. All of these can be considered to be made up of waves. All of these also carry small amounts of energy. Both electrical signals and radio waves can be affected by interference from outside sources.

What does AM and FM on the radio stand for?

Amplitude Modulation and Frequency Modulation. They are different methods of transmitting radio signals. AM is good for transmitting radio signals long distance FM is good for transmitting radio signals short distances but better quality

Can radio waves pass through clouds?

Clouds interfere with radio signals because the density of the cloud can cause static with the radio signal. The air can also interfere with the signal.
